Overview


With national offices in Louisville, Kentucky, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) focuses on the national and international mission work of the church. It serves and works with congregations, presbyteries, and synods as the central provider of resources that enable individuals, congregations, and governing bodies to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ in the world. The work at the Presbyterian Center is carried out by approximately 275 staff members who provide overall support for the mission of the church.

Position Purpose:
To provide detailed and administrative and secretarial support to Coordinator, Financial Aid for Service and Associate and works with Financial Aid for Service students to provide access to programs and information. Provides customer service support for student aid serving 350 students a year, and debt assistance programs serving up to 1,000 constituents a year. 

Job Skills / Requirements

  1. Provides administrative support to the Financial Aid for Services staff .
  2. Works with the coordinator to support program promotion.
  3. Point of contact for email, voice mail, and other inquiries with specialized knowledge of the application process for all programs offered by the office.
  4. Responsible for maintaining the core document collection supporting automated workflows for each program, including links to source data. Assists with the preparation of payment requests and back-up documentation.
  5. Maintains database, files, and Docuware collection for grants and loans. Supports annual data validation project to archive paid in full student loans.

As job responsibilities and time commitments allow, provide administrative support for other ministries within TFE.

Education:

Associate Degree, (college or business school) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Three to five years of administrative experience in educational lending, or financial aid or five years of administrative/secretarial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Position Requirements:

  • Must have organizational and general office skills, including typing, telephone etiquette, filing, and records maintenance.
  • Must have competent computer skills for data entry tasks, generation of reports, and business correspondence.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively assist, students on the financial aid process and program requirements.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to effectively deal with students, parents, faculty, staff, and other outside agencies and organizations.

Helpful Skills:

Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred.

  • positive interaction with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Must be able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Specialized knowledge/understanding of privacy issues and financial aid
