Overview
With national offices in Louisville, Kentucky, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) focuses on the national and international mission work of the church. It serves and works with congregations, presbyteries, and synods as the central provider of resources that enable individuals, congregations, and governing bodies to carry forth the mission of Jesus Christ in the world. The work at the Presbyterian Center is carried out by approximately 275 staff members who provide overall support for the mission of the church.
Position Purpose:
To provide administrative support and staff coordination for the office that supports the advisory and advocacy committees and the Committee on Mission Responsibility Through Investment of the PCUSA. To support, without close supervision, the day-to-day activities of all areas of the committees’ work, including but not limited to the organizing, preparation, and implementation of committee actions and/or referrals from the General Assembly, budget monitoring, organization of committee meetings and gatherings. Support the Associate Mission Director for Committee Support as needed.
Job Skills / Requirements
- Provide support to the lead staff persons for the committees. This includes, but is not limited to, administrative functions including keeping detailed and accurate records of actions and agreements, payments, communications, and travel arrangements. Establish, maintain, and ensure up-to-date and accurate committee meeting records, correspondence, and files (hard copy and/or electronic). Manage archiving of records.
- Provide primary support for arrangements for committee meetings (including travel, meeting packets), and staff meetings. Record and distribute minutes of meetings as required. Maintain committee rosters and internal demographic records. Provide support and follow through on actions at committee meetings, including referrals from General Assembly and coordination business items related to the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board.
- Monitor budget reports to ensure accuracy, enter journal vouchers and monitor program expenses. Receive and process staff and committee Travel Expense Reports, Credit Card Statements/Receipts, and other invoices and payments.
- Maintain office supplies and order items as needed. Ensure office storage areas are neat and unneeded materials are stored, disposed of properly or scanned to electronic formats.

- Participate in the work and common life of the Office of the Executive Director. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education:
Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
Three to five years of administrative and management experience; Experience managing budgets, meeting planning, and record keeping.
Essential Position Requirements:
Ability to manage and prioritize a complex workload. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Helpful Skills:
Ability to analyze and solve problems, strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Competencies:

- Advanced PC skills with a high degree of proficiency in Access, Excel, and Word

- Must be able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Specialized knowledge/understanding of privacy issues and financial aid.
Physical Requirements:
This is largely a sedentary position that may require occasional filing and lifting up to 15 pounds. Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, type, write, walk, stand, bend and lift. This is a full-time position.
Sensory and physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally in person and by telephone and the ability to read and understand written materials. Ability to communicate in a manner suitable to a church office environment.
