Overview

To deliver a consistent and outstanding level of customer service to clients by actively seeking out opportunities to provide assistance and support. Working on assigned shifts, to act as a deterrent to crime and undesired activity and help to maintain a visibly safe and welcoming property environment.  You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently.

Hours:                   Static Continental Days (09:30 - 21:30 Hrs) 12 hr shifts 

Pay Rate:               $20.14/hr. 

This is a NON-UNIONIZED position. 

Site Description: 

CF Sherway Gardens is located just west of downtown at the junction of Hwy. 427 & QEW. There is easy direct access to the shopping center from both QEW and Hwy. 427 via Sherway Gardens Road. Anchored by The Bay, Saks Fifth Ave, and Nordstrom, CF Sherway Gardens is an upscale fashion and lifestyle center with over 200 shops and services. Known for its best-in-class retailers, lush gardens, and comfortable leather seating, CF Sherway is a shoppers' delight.    

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Dispatch security personnel accordingly to uphold daily operations and security functions 
  • Receive and prioritize incoming calls, email communications, walk-in requests, and client requests in a professional, kind, courteous, and efficient manner.  
  • Notification of the necessary personnel and emergency staff and law enforcement as needed or required - Police, Fire, Security, EMS.  
  • Utilize two-way radio communications 
  • Respond to all inquiries and communications under stress in a dynamic environment in a calm, professional, and courteous manner.  
  • Monitor the status and locations of all security personnel to ensure efficient and accurate deployment and dispatching of staff to handle any situations that arise.  
  • Liaison with management, emergency services, police, fire, and ambulance, and staff 
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily occurrence and incident reports 
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all clients, patrons, guests, customers, and staff 
  • Keep information systems up-to-date - Ie. logs books, summary reports 
  • Promptly dispatch appropriate security personnel to respond to emergencies, alarms, and service requests.  
  • Identify, Mediate, and resolve conflicts. 
  • Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner 
  • Reliably draft and send out mass communications to property staff and tenants in the case of emergencies.  
  • Coordinate and communicate new and enhanced procedures to the security team.  
  • De-escalate and resolve all conflicts that arise  
  • Process and inform Paladin Operations of all extra coverage requests and ensure adequate follow-up.  
  • Monitor, Manage, and report any property deficiencies.  
  • Monitor and manage property fire emergency systems, fire panels, trouble alarms, and supervisory alarms.  
  • Able to use tact and diplomacy in dealings across a range of settings and situations 
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive 
  • Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures - ensure all doors are locked and secured 
  • Carry out contractor escorts as needed and assist in directing maintenance personnel.  
  • Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures 
  • Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, fairly and safely, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act 
  • Assist with Fire & Life Safety inspections 
  • Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with using CF's standard report-writing program 
  • Conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot or by vehicle.  
  • Investigate incidents and occurrences 
  • Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports 
  • Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property  
  • Monitor CCTV surveillance systems  
  • Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel  
  • Access control, line management, customer service 
  • Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed.  
  • Other duties as outlined by management  

Qualifications: 

  • Must demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills  
  • Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, and solve complex problems on a case-by-case basis.  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment 
  • Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot and vehicle for extended periods (8-12 hours)  
  • Must be able to multi-task and efficiently prioritize deliverables to meet the daily operational goal, expectations 
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism 
  • Must have at least 1-2 years of prior security experience
  • Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of security functions and understanding of Sections 494 of the Canadian Criminal Code and the Trespass Act of Ontario.   
  • Experience in physical / mall security is considered an asset** 
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills  
  • Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.  
  • Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress 
  • Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area  
  • Must have a clean driver abstract 
  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness 
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a team 
  • Must be able to adapt to a dynamic work environment and prioritize tasks to remain solution-focused.

Prerequisites:  

  • Must possess a valid “G2” Class driver's license 
  • First Aid & CRP Level C (Wsib Approved) 
  • A Valid Ontario Security Guard License 
  • Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19 (x2 Doses Min)
