Job Skills / Requirements

As an essential member of Paladin's safety team, our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Claims Management and Recovery at Work Administrator will aim to reduce time lost from work-related incidents while promoting health and safety in the workplace. In this role, you will be responsible for managing employee health and safety claims by communicating with the injured workers, facilitating modified duties, coordinating with branch representatives across Canada, and accurately recording and reporting on health and safety statistics and trends. You will also support the ongoing training of managers and staff in OHS legislation and procedures.

You will be based in our Head Office in Burnaby, BC, and will be working with teammates from our branches across Canada. Prior experience and knowledge of other province's OHS regulations would be considered an asset, but is not required.

Responsibilities: 
  • Create and maintain confidential Claims Management and Recovery at Work files for each case, and monitor their statuses, along with any WCB reviews and appeals
  • Liaise with injured workers and facilitate recovery at work and modified duties
  • Communicate and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders for the day-to-day management of claims
  • Liaise with officials in making decisions to prevent, reduce and control workers’ compensation claims and administration costs
  • Submit required documentation to governmental authorities
  • Track near misses and incidents for records and statistics
  • Provide monthly reports, KPIs, and statistics to stakeholders
  • Assist in designing and implementing modified work offers
  • Support the Claims Management and Recovery at Work programs for Paladin Security across Canada
  • Monitor, assess and audit compensation claims for legitimacy, possible challenges, trends analysis and cost control
  • Provide regular reports to stakeholders on new trends, critical developments, or problems regarding changes to policies or procedures
  • Research and draft reports concerning all aspects of workers' compensation issues
  • Stay up to date on federal and provincial workers' compensation statutes, regulations or jurisprudence impacting claims management
  • Other duties as required 
 
Requirements: 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OHS legislation, provincial regulations, and best practices
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline would be considered an asset
  • Strong computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Analytical mindset and an understanding of statistics, charts and data analysis 
  • Ability to travel to Paladin job sites occasionally
