Job Summary 

This position has the primary responsibilities for overseeing security guards assigned to the Enbridge Gas Parkway plant. This role includes scheduling and coordination of coverage, site-specific training, equipment administration and vehicle maintenance for this site. It is imperative to be familiar with the daily coordination of the operational activities and potential security concerns at Parkway West/East. This position serves in a supporting role to the Security Manager and must communicate well within this arrangement. Limited “on-call” duties required.


Major/Minor Duties 

  • Assist in addressing operational security needs for the Parkway East/West and, if called upon, other STO sites.
  • Ensure all Paladin policies and procedures are enforced on-site and provide corrective action to guards, not in compliance.
  • Main point of contact for all Visitors, Contractors, and Employees (UG and Enbridge) Proper vetting is essential before allowing access to any Admin buildings and/or secured Yard areas.
  • Responsible for issuing area-specific access cards upon (pre) approval from corporate real-estate, STO Management or Security Manager.
  • Providing STO safety orientation video to all who have not viewed the video in the previous 12 months. Testing, tracking and documenting all of those who have viewed the video.
  • Understanding, adhering to and enforcing all SOX auditable requirements pertaining to the LAN room within the West Admin building.
  • Prepare and review daily reports. Report any anomalies to the Security Manager for follow up.
  • Submit a monthly Operations Report of Security services for Enbridge Gas Parkway (East/West).
  • Manage the Life Safety monthly check program. Includes training, scheduling and auditing to ensure completion each month.
  • Support Enbridge Gas management during any emergencies i.e.- Admin building fire, gas leaks, evacuation, power outages. Duties will include but not limited to crowd control, ensuring site/perimeter security, accounting for people onsite, the first point of contact for emergency services.
  • Scheduling and coordination of coverage and site-specific training for new guards assigned to this site.
  • Random Patrol Auditing (to ensure proper quantity and quality of patrols performed by guards).
  • Providing reminders, additional training and guidance to guards when evidence of patrols not up to standard (first offence).
  • Support and assist with ongoing projects and other operational security needs as required.
 

Network Demands 
Become familiar with Enbridge Gas and Enbridge leadership and local employees. Liaise with outside agencies such as Police/Fire/EMS (multiple jurisdictions) TSSA, and Ontario Locate Services (Ontario 1call).

Communication Skills 
This position requires excellent communication skills with emphasis on tactfulness, professionalism and quick thinking under pressure. The Ability to communicate with persons from different industries and professional backgrounds (i.e. construction workers, truck drivers, Enbridge members, management, VIPs, etc.) is essential to this position.

All communications regarding issues related to incidents, policies, concerns and questions should be addressed promptly. The security manager should be notified of and copied on email correspondence concerning these matters mentioned above.

Physical Demands 
This position is primarily stationed out of an office; however, there is a “patrol” element that requires walking short distances, climbing stairs, and driving a vehicle (distance-under 25kms).

Typical Decision-Making Demands 
Day-to-day operational decisions including scheduling, approving or denying time off/vacation requests, suspending/deferring patrols or other security duties as conditions require.

*All decisions OR communications that will address the entire security team will be discussed with the Security manager before issuance.

Responsible Charge 
The position shares a responsible charge for all Paladin personnel serving Enbridge Gas Parkway.


Requirements:
  • Valid Ontario Security License.
  • First AID and CPR certificate
  • Previous Security Supervisor Experience Preferred.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Post secondary education in a law enforcement/security related program preferred.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Designation would be considered an asset.
  • Available to be on call 24/7 for any emergency situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other programs.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
    • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB certification training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
    • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB certification training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability

High School Diploma/GED

Certification Requirements (All)

Valid G Licence
Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
Valid Ontario Security License
