Site Description

The Community Walk-in Clinic at 50 Mundy Pond Road in St. John's provides healthcare services to individuals without a primary care provider, such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner. It is a part of NL Health Services, and is located at the same address as the Mundy Pond Harm Reduction Clinic. The clinic aims to offer accessible healthcare to the community.

Position Details:

Position:  Casual Security Guard

Site: Mundy Pond Walk-In Clinic

Hours:

Evening Shift: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Weekend Shift: Saturday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Payrate: $19.67/hour

Key responsibilities:

  • Patrol Clinic Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of clinic premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the clinic, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist clinical staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and clinical staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to clinic policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Clinical Staff: Work closely with clinical staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Clinic Policies: Ensure that clinic policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds clinic safety standards

Prerequisites:

  • Clear Letter of Conduct/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • TDap Vaccination
  • Immunization records
  • Two step TB skin test
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
