The school has international exchange partnerships with more than 100 respected business schools in more than 35 countries, and welcomes more than 500 international exchange students annually. Every year hundreds of our students travel to international destinations to participate in an international exchange or to complete their Global Business Projects.

Position: Part Time Security Guard - Smith School of Business

Site: Queens University - 143 Union St

Hours: Saturday/Sunday 0700-1900 hours

Overtime Method: Ontario Averaging Agreement (AA)

Payrate: $21.01/hour

Job duties:

• Maintain continuous facility surveillance, monitor for irregularities, and report security breaches, hazards, and emergencies using radios, computer systems, and incident reports
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations, contacting police, fire, or medical services when required
• Build strong stakeholder relationships while enforcing rules, safety codes, and campus regulations with professionalism and discretion
• Prepare clear, comprehensive reports and records, accurately documenting activities, incidents, and observations
• Apply foundational knowledge of security procedures, de-escalation, and non-defensive communication when handling potential conflict or violent behaviour
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, customer-service orientation, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures
• Uphold confidentiality, present a professional image, and adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics
• Perform moderate physical activity, including extended periods of standing or walking
• Identify and communicate problems to appropriate personnel, performing additional assigned duties as needed

Requirements: 

• Valid Ontario Security License
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset
• 6+ months in customer service preferred
• Previous security experience is preferred
• Must be able to commit to the position for 6 months
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)  
• • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position  
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Certification Requirements (All)

Valid Ontario Security License
First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
